No evidence of links between ISI, Haqqani network: US
WASHINGTON: United States has said that aid given to Pakistan is in the interest for the national security of both the countries.
Talking to media in a press briefing, US State Department`s spokesman Mark Toner said that US aid given to Pakistan is for building the democratic institutions and infrastructure and to strengthen economy.
He said that the substantial amount of the aid has been given for the relief of flood affectees.
Replying to a Question, Toner said that there was no evidence found of any link between Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) and Haqqani network.
“We remain committed to working with Pakistan on counterintelligence or counterterrorism operations. We believe they`ve been successful to date,”he said.
Toner said there are challenges in the relationship with Pakistan but the US is committed to working through them.
